Tapering Doses

What it does

The Tapering Doses calculator allows users to create multiple dose-reduction stages ("layers").

Each tapering stage contains:

• Dose

• Frequency

• Days

• Tablet Strength

You can add additional tapering stages or remove stages.

How to use

1. Select Tapering Doses.

2. Enter the dose for the first stage.

3. Enter how many times per day the dose is taken.

4. Enter the number of days for that stage.

5. Enter the tablet strength.

6. Review the calculated number of tablets.

7. Add another stage if the taper continues.

8. Repeat the process for each stage.

9. Review the accumulated directions and total quantities.

The app calculates the number of tablets required from the dose, tablet strength, frequency and number of days.

The generated directions follow the structure:

Take [quantity] by mouth [frequency] time(s) a day for [number] days.

Important

A tapering schedule should only be entered according to an appropriate prescription or clinically approved treatment plan. The calculator does not decide how a medication should be tapered.
