What it does
The Liquids / Syrups calculator helps calculate doses and volumes for liquid medicines.
The current calculator uses fields including:
Strength (mg)
per Vol
Dose in Rx
How to use
Select Liquids / Syrups.
Enter the medicine's strength in mg.
Enter the volume associated with that strength.
Enter the prescribed dose.
Enter the required frequency/duration where applicable.
Review the calculated volume/dose.
Independently verify the result.
Example
For a liquid labelled with a specified number of milligrams per specified volume:
Enter the mg strength.
Enter the corresponding volume.
Enter the prescribed dose.
Review the resulting volume to administer.
Important
Pay close attention to units such as:
mg
mL
mg/mL
A unit-entry error can produce a mathematically correct but clinically inappropriate result.
Verify independently before applying results clinically.
